The 28th National Delegates’ Conference of Inyila Development Union (IDU) Ibere in Ikwuano Local Government Council of Abia State has been rounded off with election, on April 21, of national officers that will run her affairs for the next four years.
In a keenly contested election that saw candidates selling their programmes to the electorate, the following officers were elected: Chief Samuel Nwaulu, President-General; Chief Nathaniel Igwe, Vice President-General; Jonathan Nwosu, Secretary-General; Chinamere Ikeoha, Assistant Secretary-General; Pastor Sunday Ogbonnaya, Treasurer; Kingsley Enyinnaya Ogbuji, Financial Secretary; Senior Deacon Victor Enyinnaya, Director of Publicity; and Sunday Mpamah Paul, Provost Marshal.
In his post-election speech, the Grand Patron of the Union, High Chief Sunday Nwosu, thumbed up the extra efforts made by the electoral committee led Kingsley Oriaku for a job well done. He pledged his continued all-round support to the body at all times.
Speaking at the occasion, the Ikwuano Local Government Transitional Chairman, Elder Henry Nwaoha, noted that what he witnessed marks a new era that would no doubt prove to be a turning point in the life of IDU. He called on all and sundry to rally round the newly elected officers as they journey towards rewriting the history of the Inyila Ibere for greatness.
On his part, the traditional ruler of Ugwu-Ibere Autonomous Community, Ezeudo Professor Samuel Mpamah Ifenwanta, after going memory lane said that the landmark election has brought back the well respected IDU to life. He described the calibre of men elected as the first eleven of the community and urged them to hit the ground running. He also pledged his unflinching support as his door remains open for consultations.
The President-General, Chief Nwaulu, said he would operate an all-inclusive administration, adding that the cardinal developmental programmes that would deeply impact on all and sundry would be top priority. He called for unalloyed cooperation of all so that the union will move to the next level.
The oldest man in the community, elder Joseph Onyekacha, blessed the officers and prayed that God sees them through to bring projects to the town.
