Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa
Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has said Aladja and Ogbe-Ijaw communities in Udu and Warri South-West local government areas will constitute youth vigilante committees to consolidate on the peace that has been achieved in the area.
The Governor made the disclosure yesterday while briefing journalists shortly after the state security council meeting held in Warri.
According to the Governor, “We just finished security council meeting where we analysed security situation in the state and it is gratifying to note that the state is peaceful.”
“We give kudos to security operatives for working very hard for us to have peace, it shows effective and proactive management of information,” the Governor said.
He continued: “We met with Ogbe-Ijaw and Aladja communities to consolidate on the peace we have achieved in the area, we will engage the youths of the communities through surveillance teams on both sides, and the committees will be effective within the next one week.”
Governor Okowa who expressed joy that the people are happy with the peace deal stated that the process of delineation of the boundary between the two communities would soon commence.
He added that with the peace that has returned to the area, developmental projects ranging from construction of blocks of classrooms, road construction, among others would be carried out in the area.
