Tribunal nullifies APGA councillor’s election, orders fresh ballot

The Anambra State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Onitsha has nullified the election of the councillorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr.Ginika Ngoesina, in the January 11, 2014 local government election for Anaku ward in Ayamelum Local Government Area of the state.

Ruling on a petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) councillorship candidate for Anaku Ward, the tribunal held that Ngoesina was not qualified to contest the said election by virtue of the fact that he was a member of the local government transition committee as at the date of the election.

The tribunal also said it found out that no election was conducted in Anaku Ward on the date of the election, and therefore ordered for a fresh visible election for the councillorship seat for the ward to be conducted as stipulated by law.
