The Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) has called for a thorough investigation into the death of a Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Church elder in a hotel in Ondo State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the deceased, Mr Omotayo Fajana, 71, was found dead in a hotel room in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, the Director-General of NTDA, Mr Ola Awakan, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, the C&S Church and the Akungba-Akoko community.
Awakan said reports surrounding the incident, including the handling of the remains, highlighted the need for a comprehensive investigation to establish the facts of the case.
He commended the Ondo State Police Command for its response and noted the arrest of three suspects in connection with the matter.
According to him, a transparent and professional investigation will help clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident and strengthen public confidence in safety standards within hospitality establishments.
Awakan reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to promoting safety and security in the tourism and hospitality sector.
He said NTDA would continue to collaborate with law enforcement agencies, state governments and hospitality operators to enhance compliance with safety standards across hospitality facilities nationwide.
The director-general also reiterated the authority’s commitment to working with stakeholders to foster a safe and responsible tourism environment. (NAN)
