The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigeria Intervention Movement (NIM) also known as the Grand Coalition of the 3rd Force Movement in Nigeria has concluded plans to be in solidarity with Nigerian masses and workers come May 1.
According to a statement issued after a meeting of the movement held yesterday in Lagos, NIM has set up a 16-man committee to map out full mobilisation and participation of NIM members on this year’s May Day, universally set aside to celebrate Labour and mass of his allies around the world.
The statement signed by the Lagos Coordinator of the movement, Bolaji Ogunseye and made available to News Express, says NIM identifies completely with the struggles of Nigerian workers and toiling masses, who have been impoverished over the years as a result of bad governance in the country.
“Nigeria is a country so blessed with natural and human resources but due to bad governance by leadership which chooses to be blind to the predicament of the workers in the country over the years, Nigerian workers and masses have been subjected to extreme poverty and suffering in the midst of plenty. Their pay cannot sustain them and their families as a result of galloping inflation all year round and massive corruption perpetrated by those in the corridor of power.
“NIM in Lagos is coming out enmasse on May Day to give the workers support and hope for a better tomorrow. A tomorrow that will be free from the present misrule entrenched by the old brigade. A tomorrow that will usher in a new era of fresh breed leadership with fresh ideas of moving the country forward.
“We want to identify with the Nigerian workers to keep hope alive. And that is the whole idea of our intervention, to change the old order in governance in the country,” the statement stated.
The Planning Committee of NIM Lagos Solidarity Rally, which is also intended to mobilise the involvement of Citizens in the PVC driven, ballot based Revolution initiated by the Movement for 2019 elections is headed by Derin Oke-Ismail with Joses Aso as secretary.
Other members are Ronnie Dikko, Bolaji Oshinowo, Layo Adekanye, Opeoluwa Osho, Ejiro Akowien, Stephanie Etiaka, Sunny Okim, David Fadoju, Nkiru Azubuike, Winifred Kakada, Quam Raji Ogbe, Babatunde Akinlade, Ayaba Abiye Odeleke and Gbenga Ademujimi.
