Thunderstorm
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms over the central states of Abuja, Lafia, Yola, Kaduna, Jalingo and Jos on Sunday morning with prospects of increased cloudiness over most parts later in the day.
NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Saturday also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 28 to 39 and 17 to 28 degrees Celsius respectively.
It added that there were prospects of isolated thunderstorms over Ilorin, Lokoja, Makurdi and Mambilla Plateau in the afternoon and evening hours.
The agency predicted that the southern States would experience cloudy skies with chances of localised thunderstorms over Lagos, Ijebu-ode, Yenagoa, Obudu, Ibi and their environs in the morning hours.
It also predicted prospects of isolated thunderstorms over Lagos, Abeokuta, Oshogbo, Enugu, Abakaliki, Uyo, Calabar, Port-Harcourt and their environs with day and night temperatures of 31 to 34 and 21 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to NiMet, Northern states will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies throughout the forecast period with day and night temperatures in the range of 40 to 43 and 26 to 29 degrees Celsius respectively.
“The moisture influx into the country is expected to continue thereby given prospect of localized thunderstorm over several cities such as Lafia, Abuja, Kaduna, Jalingo and southern states in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicts. (NAN)
