The late Ejinkonye Oyiogu after being stabbed by his younger brother, Ekene Oyiogu
The family of Oyiogu in Ifititedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been thrown into mourning following the stabbing of an elder son of the family, Ejinkonye Oyiogu, by his younger brother, Ekene Oyiogu.
News Express learnt that Ejinkonye, who was stabbed severally died on the way to the hospital.
Information has it that trouble started brewing following the burial, last year, of their father, who was a popular politician.
A neighbour who pleaded anonymity said the trouble in the family may not be unconnected with their late father’s property which, he alleged, the deceased held on to despite protests by the younger brother.
The quarrel climaxed during the weekend when Ejinkonye drew the first blood by stabbing Ekene in the cause of a brawl.
In retaliation, Ekene grabbed the knife and stabbed him severally on the neck, hand, navel and head before he slumped to the ground.
When News Express visited the family house in Ifitedunu, it was as quiet as a grave yard. Nobody was in sight to speak to our correspondent but some of the villagers interviewed said that some family members have been arrested by the police as a result of the incident.
They lamented that Ejinkonye was murdered a day preceding their father’s memorial service slated for Sunday, April 8, 2018.
The story could not be confirmed by the police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Nkiru Nwode, as she did not pick her calls.
