There are strong indications that Cattle Dealers Association of Nigeria may discontinue business transactions from the Northern part of the country to the Southern part of Nigeria to protest the unnecessary killings of their members.
Gombe State chairman of the association, Alhaji Yahuza Yusuf while briefing newsmen in Bauchi yesterday, stated that they have decided to stop taking their goods to the southern part of the country following the rampant killings of their members in Benue state.
He explained that it is very unfortunate that their truck which was loaded with over N10m cattle were blocked by hoodlums in Kwayawa village in Benue State and suddenly burnt while five persons accompanying the goods were stabbed to death and three people declared missing.
“Our association has suspended taking animals and other goods to the southern part of the country for three days to protest the unnecessary killing of our members in Benue,” he said.
