The Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Maku Olatunde, earlier today conducted an on-the-spot assessment of security deployment at various polling units across the state during the ongoing Local Government Election.

He commended voters, election officials, and NSCDC personnel for their orderly conduct and professionalism, noting that the electoral process has so far remained peaceful and devoid of any security breach.

Polling units visited by Maku include Government Technical College, (GTC) Awka, St. Matthew Church Amawbia in Awka South LGA, Ogbunike Town Hall (Wards 1 & 2).

Others were, the State Primary School Nteje (Wards 2 & 3) in Oyi Local Government Area, and Ukwulu Central School in Dunukofia Local Government Area.

During the visit, the state Civil Defence boss interacted with security personnel and election officials, emphasizing the need for professionalism, neutrality, and vigilance throughout the electoral process.

He also visited the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to monitor security deployment, election activities, and to strengthen collaboration between security agencies and election officials.

Speaking during the visit, Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), Magistrate Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe, appreciated the deployment of security agencies for the election.

She expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election in the areas visited and reiterated the Command's commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the exercise.

The Chairman further urged residents to continue to remain peaceful and cooperate with security personnel to ensure a successful electoral process.
