BNYL National Leader, Princewill Obuka Richard
National Leader of the Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL), Princewill Obuka Richard, has expressed displeasure over the threats on the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), should the proposed Igbo Summit holds.
Princewill, who spoke in Owerri, capital of Imo State, dismissed the threats, warning of the dire consequences of internal fights within Igbo land.
He said: “Gradually we have become a laughing stock by this our everyday exchange of words, and threats here and there.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Summit is for the Ohanaeze. It is their organisational affair. They can hold their Summit; it is an Ohanaeze affair. Whether the Summit is in favour of restructuring of Nigeria should not be our business. They are on their own; it cannot stop the independence of Biafra.”
The BNYL Leader pointed out the factors hindering Biafra’s realisation. He said: “Lack of central coordination in the movement, indiscipline and ‘I don’t care attitude’ are our problems. When are we as Biafra agitators going to hold our own Summit to present our position to the world as to how and what we have done so far in favour of Biafra. The world needs to know how we intend to run the Biafra government; they have not seen togetherness in us. Where is the Constitution of Biafra?
“I don’t think Ohanaeze Ndigbo has that power to stop Biafra since they don’t represent the interest of Biafra. They may only try to scuttle efforts being made which, of course, is a failed mission, and they themselves will suffer more.”
Reacting to the current security situations in the country, the BNYL Leader warned of the impending danger of allowing the senseless killing of non-Muslims by Fulani extremists masquerading as herdsmen, and government’s failure to proscribe them as terrorists.
“The failed government of Muhammadu Buhari will sit up when the chips are down. Until they hear exchange of bullets in defense of our land, they will not learn.
“Since they gave Fulani people licence to carry guns, they should know that this time, we will not allow history to repeat itself; we are prepared in all ramifications and they will see strong resistance against jihadist Fulani herdsmen troubling our land,” Princewill stated.
He disclosed plans by BNYL to resume its grassroots sensitisation campaigns and activities within the South-South and South-East. “We have not been active for some time due to the death of my father, the Eze Ndigbo of Obigbo, who was buried recently,” Princewill said.
He revealed that the group will resume with a grassroots programme in Obudu, Cross River State, before the end of this month.
