A tricyclist, Babagana Mustapha, was on Tuesday brought before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, charged with raising a false alarm and accusing a food vendor of causing the disappearance of his sexual organ.

Mustapha, 28, was charged alongside five others — Mohammed Hassan, 35; Kori Kambo, 35; Alhaji Mustapha, 40; Bulu Umar, 18; and Ismaila Babagana, 32.

They are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and breach of peace.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

But the Prosecutor, Police Sgt. Ruben Solomon insisted that the accused committed the offences on March 14 at 12.30 p.m. at Saka Tinubu Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Solomon said the accused raised a false alarm which could have caused a breach of public peace.

“The tricyclist approached a food vendor, Mickey Dauwo, for a two N50 notes, immediately after changing the money, Mustapha (tricyclist) raised alarm that his organ was missing.

“Mustapha and the other accused took the food vendor to an uncompleted building and beat him to a pulp with different kinds of weapons.

“A police officer, Cpl. Balogun Gideon, who came to stop the accused from beating the food vendor was also beaten.

“The officer sustained injuries on his face with one of his eyes swollen,” Solomon said.

He said the accused also conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by raising false alarm on disappearance of the sexual organ.

The offences contravened Sections 168(d), 173 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.M. Davis, granted them bail in the sum of N120,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

She said that the sureties must show evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government and should also have their addresses verified.

The case was adjourned until March 28 for mention. (NAN)
