Detained BNYL National Leader Princewill Obuka
National Leader of the Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL), Princewill Obuka, has been arrested and detained along with 20 of his supporters, the group said Wednesday in a statement. It named leader of Displaced Bakassi Youths, Linus Essien, as among those arrested along with Comrade Obuka last week Tuesday, January 16, in Ikang - Cameroon boarder area in Cross River State.
“Obuka has been detained at the State CID Calabar since on Tuesday last week without access to communication,” BNYL Public Relations Officer, Mr Aghaulor Godspower, said in the statement.
“The Bakassi displaced leader, who is also the group Chief of Staff, was taken away by soldiers. No official statement has been issued by the police as to why they were arrested,” the statement said.
BNYL called for the release of its leader and other detainees, even as it disclosed that its Deputy Leader, Ebuta Agbor Takon, has gone underground to evade possible arrest.
