Crashed GUO Logistics truck
The National Association of Nigerian Students has given GUO Logistics 72 hours to take full responsibility for an accident involving one of its trucks that reportedly claimed the lives of five students from Gombe State along the Ijebu–Epe Road.
The association, in a statement dated October 30, 2026, and signed by its National President, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, demanded that the transport company contact the bereaved families, provide necessary support and ensure adequate medical attention for victims who sustained injuries in the accident.
The students were reportedly travelling from Gombe State to Lagos in search of Industrial Training placements when the accident occurred.
NANS described their deaths as devastating, saying their dreams of building successful careers had been cut short while pursuing opportunities to advance their education and professional development.
The association, however, expressed displeasure over what it described as GUO Logistics’ failure to take responsibility for the incident.
It said, “The most disheartening part of this tragedy is that, up till this moment, GUO Logistics has failed to take responsibility for the ugly incident that took the lives of our students.”
Consequently, NANS urged the company to engage the families of the deceased and provide them with the necessary assistance, stressing that the injured victims must not be abandoned.
The student body also called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident to establish the facts and ensure that anyone found culpable was held accountable in accordance with the law.
It added that the 72-hour ultimatum was intended to compel the company to demonstrate responsibility and compassion towards the affected families.
“Our departed students deserve justice. Their families deserve compassion and support, while the injured deserve proper medical care. Of course, we cannot bring these students back to life, but we can get justice for them,” the statement added.
NANS also commiserated with the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased, describing the incident as a collective loss to the Nigerian student community.
Meanwhile, efforts by this medium to obtain GUO Logistics’ reaction to the allegations through the company’s official telephone contact were unsuccessful, as calls and inquiries seeking its response to the incident were not answered as of the time of filing this report.
