Hundreds of Nigerians from different parts of the United Kingdom yesterday embarked on a popular protest against what they described as wanton killings of innocent Nigerians by armed herdsmen.
The protest, which started at Trafalgar Square, London, was reportedly organised Mutual Union of Tivs in the United Kingdom (MUTUK) and was supported by members of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom.
The protesters carried placards with various inscriptions such as “Buhari, no more killing,” “Nigerian Government stop your silence on Fulani herdsmen,” and “Stop killing Nigerians, Enough is Enough,” among others.
They filed peacefully along major streets of London, even as they chanted war songs, and called on President Buhari to either deal decisively with the suspected herdsmen or resign from office.
They also accused the Presidency of keeping silent over the development, alleging that the attacks may not be unconnected with the plans of the Hausa/Fulani ethnic group to scare other regions from participating in the 2019 general election. (New Telegraph)
