President Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has described the fire incident at a fish market in Kano State as “economically destabilising for the victims”.
President Buhari said this in his condolence message to victims of the inferno in a statement issued on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
The statement comes two days after the traders at Yan Kifi Market, Kano suffered heavy losses as dozens of shops were reportedly razed.
According to the State Fire Service, the fire started from an electric spark from a change-over device while the situation received a swift response.
President Buhari who was deeply touched by the disaster noted that the reported loss of a large number of shops and containers was destabilising for the victims.
“This fire disaster is an incalculable setback for the victims who have lost what they laboured for,” he said, noting that he felt their pains with the greatest sense of empathy.
“Regardless of our social status, we are connected by our common humanity, and therefore, as a leader, I fully understand what this unfortunate fire incident meant for the lives of the victims and their families,” the President added.
He also sympathised with the entire people of Kano State over the fire disaster and prayed Almighty Allah to turn their losses into greater blessings. (Channels TV)
