Do It Right Foundation National Co-ordinator Dixon Jubril
Do It Right Foundation, a Not for Profit Organisation (NGO), has lamented the high rate of unpatriotism being exhibited by many Nigerians in the country, a situation it attributed to lack of constant orientation.
Dixon Jubril, National Co-ordinator of Do It Right Foundation, which organisation was responsible for the “Do It Right Nigeria” campaign in 2013, said the chaotic situation in the country shows that the country stopped talking to itself. “The result is what is evident in the country today,” he told News Express in a telephone conversation.
Jubril noted that in the larger society people constantly talk to themselves because they know the importance of orientation and Nigeria should not be an exception.
“We need to constantly talk to ourselves about orientation so that some of the needless crisis we are embroiled in will be unnecessary.
“It is a fundamental issue with us – which must be taken seriously and the right questions asked so that proper solutions can be proffered,” he said.
Jubril noted that some of the challenges the country is presently going through was what his organisation tried to avoid about five years ago with its ‘love’ campaign but did not get necessary support from the government.
“As bad as it seems, there are still certain things that binds the nation together. If we stand as a people who love Nigeria we would harness all the negative acts and turn it into good, for the benefit of the generation yet unborn,” he stated.
Continuing he said: “But when we ran to government officials for support the required support were not given despite all the money we spent on campaign and the like.
“The support we were talking about was not financial, but was to identify with our campaign by getting printed vest of the campaign for government staff during our rallies, they were not forthcoming coupled with other factors we became discouraged.”
Jubril, however, said that plans are on to revive the project “as Nigeria belongs to all of us and its survival is key.”
“The country need re-orientation, we either love this country or not and if we say we do, we all need to start demonstrating it by our thoughts and actions,” he posited.
