PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has taken a head start among the six new private universities in the country.
The universities were approved on December 6, 2017 by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and presented with their provisional licences by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on December 19 in Abuja.
Checks by News Express showed that PAMO University started operations early this month and is driving the admission process through its recently activated website, http://pums.edu.ng
The website advertises PAMO University as a place where there exist “a careful selection of the right personnel, state of the art next-gen infrastructure & learning system.”
“We are currently admitting,” says a message on the website, adding: “Are you looking to build a career in medical sciences? PAMO University of Medical Sciences is currently admitting new and qualified students.”
Information gleaned from the website showed that the university boasts the Faculty of Clinical Sciences and that of Basic Medical Sciences.
Courses on offer at the university include Anaesthesiology; Chemical Pathology; Community Medicine; Environmental Health Sciences; Epidemology and Medical Statistics; Family Medicine; Haematology; Histopathology; Medical Microbiology and Parasitology; Medicine; Obstetrics& Gynaecology; Ophtamology; Otorhinolaryngology; Paediatrics; Psychiatry; Radiology; Surgery; Anatomy; Forensic science; Human nutrition and dietetics; Medical biochemistry; Pharmacology; Physiology; Allied Health Sciences; Medical laboratory science; Nursing science; and Physiotherapy.
