An Osun State-based socio-political group, I Believe Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (IBORA) has thrown its weight behind the second term ambition of Governor Rauf Aregbesola and urged the people of the state to shun the claim by Aregbesola’s detractors that the governor is not fit to contest the August 9, 2014 governorship election.
IBORA in a statement signed by its National President, Hon. Olusola Okiki, said the association would work with other political and non-political oganisations in the state to ensure that the governor wins the August 9 governorship election. The group advised Osun residents to register for the permanent voters cards which the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC) will soon start to issue and to end on March 21.
On the re-classification of schools and alleged Islamisation of the State, IBORA counselled Aregbesola’s detractors to have a re-think, describing the governor as “the angel of our time who has come to save the state from total decay, collapse and gloom.”
IBORA added that the issue of Islamisation has been blown beyond proportion by the opposition and that there is no truth in the allegation. It said the achievements recorded by the Aregbesola-led government convinced the association to support his second term bid.
Osun, according to IBORA, has witnessed unprecedented development in the last three years under Aregbesola as governor of the state. It said the state would experience serious retrogression if Aregbesola is not allowed to complete all the programmes embarked upon by his administration.
Stressing the need for the people of the state to support Aregbesola’s second term ambition, IBORA said “there is nothing as sweet as continuity in meaningful governance. Aregbesola deserves a second term and the people of the state should not allow those who do not have the interest of the people at heart to destabilise the present progress the people are witnessing.”
