The State Focal Person for Social Investment Programme, Mr Chinenye Nwaogu, has announced that 8,236 Abia Youths have been selected for the second batch of the Job Creation programme known as N-Power Programme for unemployed graduates. This Federal Government/State Government Job Creation intervention programme is aimed at bridging the manpower gap in the Tyre key sectors of Education, Health and Agriculture.
Each of the selected beneficiaries will receive a monthly allowance of N30,000 during the period of the programme which is two years in the first instance.
He further stated that the list of selected beneficiaries will be at the local government offices of the National Orientation Agency across the state from Monday December 11, 2017 where physical verification is expected to take place with the support of selected existing N Power beneficiaries.
He informed the public that the screening and verification is free of charge and that no person is expected to pay a dime for the exercise. He urged beneficiaries to report any form of extortion immediately to the police or the N-Power state office for investigation and prosecution.
It will be recalled that last year about 3,362 Abia youths were successful in the first batch and has since been receiving their allowances and supporting the three selected sectors.
He congratulated the selected beneficiaries and urged them to take the opportunity seriously while using the training and capacity this programme will equip them with to develop a self reliant plan. He further thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his unrelenting support to the Social Investment Programme Office in Abia state which has seen the successful implementation of these programmes.
This will see the injection of extra N248 million monthly into the economy of the State directly in the hands of youths in Abia State.
