Retired Col Hamaza Al-Mustapha
Youths under the aegis of Youth Patriotic Front of Nigeria have appealed to Ndigbo to adopt Col. Hamaza Al-Mustapha (rtd.), former Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, as Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s son in Diaspora.
The group noted in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the National President, Sunny Udeh, that “since God granted him freedom Al-Mustapha has been honouring late Ojukwu’s memorial lecture with massive delegations from the North and West.”
“This adoption,” according to the statement, “has become very important especially at this point in our history when the nation is facing ethnic conflicts capable of distracting governance and peaceful co-existence.”
Al-Mustapha was easily one of the star attractions at the 2017 Ojukwu Memorial Lecture held recently in Owerri, Imo State capital, by the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB). Addressing the gathering, he advised Nigerians to unite against common problems so that the country may make progress. “Any issue that will make Nigerians see themselves as one will be my concern. We will continue to respect the late Chukwuemaka Odumegwu Ojukwu,” Al-Mustapha said.
Youth Patriotic Front of Nigeria, in its statement, thanked Al-Mustapha and “all those who turned out on their own to celebrate Ojukwu, the hero of justice.”
