IGP Ibrahim Idris
Nigerians have been urged to disregard the news going round that an Assistant Commissioner of Police has openly challenged the directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris.
In a press release in Abuja, the National Coordinator of United Young Professionals, Adewole Kehinde, said that the rumour “is another way to distract the focused IGP Ibrahim Idris in carrying out his changed-oriented reform of the Nigeria Police.”
“It is a known fact that once you are promoted, in most cases, it comes with transfer to the status of such promotion, so we wonder why some people will just sit somewhere in their room to send out rumour of an ACP disregarding the IGP’s directives, Adewole said.
Adewole further reiterated that the entire rumour became glaring when the so called publication said: “The ACP, it was learnt also stated that the IGP has only few days or weeks in office before he would be booted out of office by Mr. President.
“The fabricator of the rumour forgot that the Federal Government under President Buhari has sued Senator Misau for false information and forgery while the Inspector General of Police has also sued the same Senator Misau, we wonder if it is the duty of an ACP to determine the days of a serving IGP in office.
“We called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris to see the publication as a stepping stone to work harder in reforming the Nigeria Police in line with the Change Agenda of President Buhari’s administration.”
