Jaw Jaw Africa Initiator Victor Eniola
Jaw Jaw Africa, a group that aims at producing vibrant public speakers of great repute as well as encourage the idea of dialogue as a reliable rift resolution mechanism amongst African Youths, has outlined its major objectives.
Victor Eniola, Initiator of the programme, in a statement on Monday disclosed that its main objectives are to instill the love for Public Speaking, Oratory and Research in the minds of the Youths of Tertiary Institutions; Create a platform that they would be proud to associate with as well as learn to observe diacritics and pronounce words correctly in whatever language they choose to speak in.
He said: “The Overall objective is not to develop public speakers in English Language but to create Standard Debaters and Public Speakers in whatever language they are good at . . . Be it Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba or any other African Language. To buttress this point; At Jaw Jaw Africa, a competition is tagged: Yoruba Orator of the Year. We also intend to show youths the business opportunities in public speaking as well as create them where possible.
“We intend to use the platform to create an alternative career for youths irrespective of their course of study at the tertiary institutions. While some people choose to walk naked on the runway to make it in life and others force themselves to sing as they feel that will make them millionaires.
“We intend to deploy Public Speaking as a tool for Conflict Prevention and Resolution . . . So many war war exists in different parts of Africa. We strongly opine that this cannot be delineated from the unsaid words and unuttered expressions that leads to agitations.”
