2015: GO FOR THE PRESIDENCY, youths tell OKOROCHA

As Nigeria counts down towards the 2015 general elections, Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has been told to run for the presidency by the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN).

The group during a courtesy call to Okorocha at the Government House, Owerri, described him as a gift to Imo State who stands out from others on account of his exemplary leadership style.

Speaking during the visit, Speaker of NYAN, Comrade Kassim Mohammed Kassim, said Nigeria needed a leader with vision and the interest of the masses at heart such as Okorocha.

“Governor Okorocha, you are governor for the poor, governor for the widows, governor for the children, governor for the students,” he said.

Kassim, who is the SSA to the Governor of Nassarawa State on Youths and Students Matters, remarked that the remarkable achievements of Governor Okorocha in Imo State need to be extended to Nigerians at large. This, he said, has necessitated their decision to passionately appeal to Owelle Okorocha to contest for the 2015 presidential election so as to liberate Nigerians from the shackles of misrule which has bedeviled them for years.

The NYAN Speaker who explained that their call was a unanimous decision taken when they had meeting in Kano State, said it was not for them to make money but, rather, “we are donating ourselves to work for you and we will raise the fund.”

Governor Okorocha commended the youths for finding him worthy to serve and empathised with them in their plight and quest to secure brighter future in the mist of uncertainties in governance, economy and means of livelihood.

He blamed the woes of Nigeria on bad leadership and urged the youths not to seat on the fence but to contribute their quota in rebuilding Nigeria. He also enjoined them to have faith and be proud of Nigeria.”

Owelle Okorocha lamented the practice of democracy in Nigeria which he described as “government of the few, by the few and for the few” as against the government of the people, by the people and for the people.

He revealed that many other groups had called on him to run for the presidency and spoke of his passion to make Nigeria better whenever the opportunity comes, pointing out that visionary leadership would exceedingly transform the nation.
