National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sir Victor Umeh, has dismissed the claim to the post by his rival, Chief Maxi Okwu, declaring that it lacks foundation.

Umeh made the declaration when asked by News Express to react to speculations that he would likely step down during the party’s forthcoming National Convention so as to make way for peace and reconciliation with Okwu.

Umeh did not only dismiss the speculations bit also predicted that Okwu’s claim to the chairmanship based on a recent Federal High Court Abuja judgement would soon fizzle out. His exact words:

“Our proposed National Convention is not for election of national officers of the party. The information you have is therefore wrong. Our tenure will end 10^th February 2015. We have also appealed against the Federal High Court judgement.

“The present noise will also fizzle out. The Enugu High Court judgement that gave birth to the Convention that produced Okwu and his co-travellers was nullified by the Court of Appeal Enugu Division on the 15^th of July, 2013. The Court of Appeal judgement still subsists till today. His claim to APGA leadership therefore has no foundation.”
