The ad-hoc committee set up by the Senate to look into the allegations of several misconduct levelled against the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has invited him for questioning next week.

The committee is headed by Senator Francis Alimikhena and also has Senators Abdulaziz Nyako and Suileman Hunkuyi as its members.

However, the Federal Government had filed two separate set of charges against Senator Isah Misau (APC, Bauchi) on allegations of forgery and that he deserted from the Police Force and impersonated the rank of Deputy Commissioner of police when he was a Deputy Superintendent at the time of his desertion.

The two charges were filed by the office of the Attorney- General of the Federation (AGF)at the Federal High Court in Abuja and another before the Federal Capital Territory High Court on Wednesday.

In addition, the Federal Government noted that the allegations raised by the lawmaker against the IGP were false, for which charges would be pressed against the lawmaker.

The tiff between the lawmaker and the IGP heightened last week when the Senator revealed allegation of pregnancy-for-promotion affair between the IG and a female police officer, in addition to earlier allegations of receiving N2.5 million to get special promotion and posting.
