Monkey pox sufferer
The Bayelsa State Government has appealed to all striking workers in the state to call off their action and return to their duty posts to help government tackle the viral monkey pox disease in the state.
The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, who made the plea on Monday in Yenagoa, further appeal to the workers to allow the government handle some of the complaints that led to their industrial action which is contained in the reforms that will soon be announced by Governor Henry Seriake Dickson.
The Bayelsa Government spokesman maintained that with the help of the workers, particularly those at the local government level the ‘Monkey pox’ disease will soon be a thing of the past, so it is imperative they suspend their strike.
He called on civil servants in the state especially those at the Local Government level to support the ongoing reforms instituted by Governor Dickson aimed at sanitising the system and reposition it for efficiency and greater productivity.
Iworiso-Markson said the call became imperative because of the need to remind the workers of the importance of reforms.
He said because of the sincerity of government, it included members of the organised labour in the state as members of the public reforms committee so that issues concerning the public service can be holistically addressed.
