Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared that there must be change in 2015 as Nigerians, according to him, have become fed up with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He made the declaration while speaking at yesterday’s Grand Rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yola, Adamawa State, organised to formally receive him following his defection from PDP on Sunday.
“Change is coming to Nigeria and it is a must,” thundered. “The ouster of PDP from power is imminent and only a matter of time. Nigerians are fed up and will send them packing in 2015.” The power shift, he said, would be from “retrogressive” elements to the “progressives,” stressing: “If you see me, Baba Mai Mangoro (nickname of Adamawa Governor Murtala Nyako) and other stakeholders you know change is coming to Nigeria.”
The ex-Vee Pee urged APC supporters nationwide to participate in the part’s membership registration exercise starting this Friday so as to make it easier for APC to rout PDP in next year’s general elections.
Though silent on his rumoured presidential ambition, Atiku assured that Nigerians would hear from him whenever campaigns start.
The rally attracted a galaxy of APC heavyweights from across Nigeria, among them the party chairman Bisi Akande, party leader Bola Tinubu and former Borno State Governor Modu Sheriff.
