Everything being equal, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, will today announce his exit from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Atiku himself dropped the hint last night, telling his Facebook friends and Twitter followers around 9pm: “My friends, I shall be making a major announcement tomorrow. And I will be sharing it with you.”
The information came a day after the estranged PDP chieftain concluded his nationwide consultative meetings with political associates and stakeholders, with that of the North-East geo-political zone in Bauchi State.
Majority of the delegates at the meeting held at the Zaranda Hotel in Bauchi had told Atiku to dump PDP for the APC without further delay.
News Express reports that Atiku’s exit from PDP for APC had been long expected as many the New Peoples Democratic Peoples Party (nPDP) which he formed on August 31 last year has since merged with APC on November 26. Besides, the APC national leadership has formally invited Atiku to join the fast-growing party, with the ex-VP saying he would take a decision after due consultations.
