Governor Amosun
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has said his government would engage the services of indigenous contractors in the proposed construction of semi-urban roads in all the local government areas in the state.
Hosting members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), who paid him a courtesy call in his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office, yesterday, Amosun said his administration is determined to encourage local contractors, as they are vital to the success of the ongoing infrastructural development in the state.
While noting that the society is made up of members, who are hard working, skilled, sound and with great intellectual abilities, Amosun however implored them to use modern technologies in the discharge of their duties.
The governor, who expressed concern over the increase in incidences of collapse structures, also admonished stakeholders to find a way of addressing the infrastructural deficit in the country.
He further charged the NSE to show more concern in the activities of government and offer professional advice when necessary.
President of the society, Engr. Otis Anyaeji, speaking earlier, had described the state as a model to emulate, particularly in this era of the nation's economic diversification drive.
Anyaeji, commended the state government for the great transformation of the state, assuring that the society would find a lasting solution to the prevalence of quark engineers practising in the country.
