The security vehicles donated to FRSC and Police by AB inBev Intafact
An Onitsha based company, AB inBev, the parent body of Intafact Beverages Limited, makers of Grand Malt, Hero Beer and Carle Milk Stout, among others, on Wednesday donated six Hilux trucks fully equipped with communication gadgets to the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, as well as the Anambra and Delta states police commands, to aid them in their work of fighting crime. This brings to 12 the number of vehicles the company has given out to security agencies in four years.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony which took place at the company’s corporate office in Onitsha, the Director of Corporate and Legal Affairs Unit, Otumba Michael Daramola, said that the gesture was their way of appreciating the security agencies for the good work they are doing as well as the cordial relationship they have enjoyed with them over the years.
He added that the donation is Intafact’s little way of contributing its quota towards ensuring security in the country, as well as in keeping with its policy of carrying out social responsibility in its area of operation.
Daramola explained that AB inBev had carried out other social responsibilities, including provision of water and electricity to neighbouring communities and assisting over 50 youths with funds to start their own businesses.
He announced that the third batch of the youth empowerment programme would take place later this month, saying that so far, the company was satisfied with the performance of those earlier empowered by the company.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Umar, commended the company for the gesture, promising that the vehicles would not only be put into good use but would properly maintained.
He called on other companies operating in the state to emulate AB inBev, noting that their activities would only be better enhanced in a secure environment.
Umar while saying that what they have done was beyond identifying with the police said that the donation would further strengthen the cordial relationship between security operatives and the company.
