ANAN President Shehu Usman Ladan
The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria ANAN has lauded the Federal Government’s anti corruption campaign and recovery of looted funds.
President of the Association, Alhaji Shehu Usman Ladan, gave the commendation during the opening ceremony for the 3rd session of Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) with the theme “Strengthening Public Sector Financial Management in time of National Economic Recession”, held in Asaba, Delta State.
The ANAN President addressed the members of the association on accounting profession in Nigeria, adding that he will ensure the advancement of the members’ knowledge and skills through the best training and pursuance of ethical conduct.
Usman stressed that ANAN is strongly behind the activities of government toward revamping the economy, ensuring international best practices and reliable financial statement with sustainable solutions to economic recession.
He applauded the members on their corporate social responsibility and humanitarian gestures on their visit to Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, and handed out gifts including cash to some less privileged persons.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who was represented by the Acting Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro declared the event open. He thanked the association for joining hands on the fight to curb the current nationaleconomic recession.
Okowa told the members of Association that the financial management system in the country needs some overhauling.
The Governor also urged the members of ANAN to look through the challenges of public sector, financial management in the country and come up with fresh ideas in the shape of accountingresponses and how to surmount the challenges therein.
