The House of Representatives has directed its Committee on Interior to investigate the alleged abuse of expatriate quotas by the Nigeria Immigration Service.

The lawmakers gave the directive following a motion presentedon Wednesdayby Hon. Johnson Oghuma.

The motion alleged that the Immigration was conniving with some foreign companies and also failed to effectively check expatriates from illegally entering the country.

Also, the lawmakers asked Ethiopian Airlines to offer flight delay compensation to over 1,000 Nigerians, following complaints by some Nigerians over their treatment by the airline.

In a motion sponsored by Hon. Zakari Mohammed and three other lawmakers, the House was informed that some Nigerians who were on their way back to the country from Saudi Arabia were stranded for over one week without explanation.

The lawmakers directed its House Committee on Aviation to meet with the Minister of Aviation and officials of the airline to explain the delay.

They also called for the prompt and immediate evacuation of Nigerians stranded in Jeddah and an apology from the airline. (Channels TV)
