The Nigeria Diaspora Security Forum is no longer operational and is now officially known as Africa Security Forum, with the sole objective of working collaboratively for peace and security in Africa.

A statement issued on Wednesday in Britain by Temitope Olodo, Transitional Chairperson, Africa Security Forum, reads: “Our journey started in November 2014 when few professionals with security backgrounds gathered to identify lasting solutions to the security challenges in Nigeria with particular concerns for the Chibok Girls issue. We actively engaged with both Nigeria and other foreign government to ensure that peace reign during the Nigeria election.

“As an organisation, we are pleased with our contribution to the Security Agenda ensuring that we provide high level report for government consumption and holding strategic events to push forward good governance, effective security and observance of human rights protocols.

“We are now at a crossroad on Nigeria Security and it was collectively agreed as a membership based organisation that our skills and talents would be better utilised at a continental level with other serious national stakeholder interested in genuine security reform and people driven security initiative that promotes safety and security in the continent.

“As controversy continue to trail the use of helicopter within Nigeria airspace to supply undisclosed items to Fulani Herdsmen; unresolved crisis surrounding the Chibok Girls, continuous detention of El-Zakzaky and other security challenges confronting the Nigeria state; it is time to utilise your experience/expertise on fruitful projects where security leadership are genuinely interested in change.

“Africa Security Forum will continue to speak on Nigeria security issues when the need arises and ready to add value when called upon to support; however we are now more enthusiastic to participate in an inclusive deliberations about security from a continental perspective.”
