An Islamic Human Rights Group, the Movement for Islamic Rights and Justice (MIRAJ) has written the Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of Force Criminal Intelligent Investigation Department(FCIID) and Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone XI, Osogbo over alleged illegal arrest and detention on fictitious allegation, defamation of character, character assassination and threat to life of a former Chairman of Ede North Local Government area of Osun State, Mr. Adisa Tajudeen, Jimoh Fatai and Saliu Adebayo Elemila over landed property located at Elemila village via Iwoye Community in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State.
The group also alleged that some Police Officers attached to the Anti-Fraud Unit of the AIG, Zone XI, Osogbo, including one Supol Kehinde Lawal Anny, Inspector Ilesanmi, Sergent Adekunle Lukman and Sergeant Tayo were accomplices of the accused persons to jump bailof the case directed by the IGP to be handled by office of DIG, FCIID, Garki, Abuja.
The Police Officers were accused of abuse of office, official corruption, illegal arrest and detention, harbouring of criminals and obstruction of higher authority investigation in the force, calling on Police boss and other concerned authorities to call the alleged Police Officers to order in order to give Force Criminal Intelligent Department, Garki, Abuja, to conclude its investigation on the subject matter.
The group gave the names of the suspects as Mudashiru Adetunji, Lukumon Adetunji, Mutairu Adetunji, Sarafa Adekola, Dauda Ooye, Lasisi Adogbe, Mufutau Hassan, Nurudeen Hassan, Ibrahim Adisa, Akeem Jinadu Adile, Rasheed and one Tunde, facing criminal charge of Land grabbing, kidnapping and threat to life of the original owner of the land in question.
The Police Officers were accused of conniving with the suspects to evade being charged to court for offence of obtaining by false pretence and forcibly entering into land illegally, conspired to defraud, kidnapping, threat to life and terrorising the bona fide owner of the landed property.
The petition dated Monday April 3rd, 2017 signed by MIRAJ’s National Amir, Mallam Adeniyi Alimi Adams, maintained that part of the plot by the suspects was that their agents were caught while trying to bury the charms on the land, adding that they were caught and as well recorded on the fateful day and were taken to the Divisional Police Station, Awo in Egbedore Local Government area of Osun State, where they made a confessional statement before Investigating Police Officer (IPO).
