Governor of Kaduna State, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, has promised to rapidly transform the state and charged the new set of commissioners to be prepared to play their role in realising this goal. Yero, who spoke today at the Government House during the swearing-in of the commissioners, said: “Our administration is deeply committed to the rapid transformation of the state. It is our duty to serve our people, embrace their aspirations by assuring them improved living standards.
“To achieve this, we have mapped out several strategies, policies and programmes capable of ushering in a new dawn on rapid growth and economic advancement of our dear state. Our target is to ensure the security of lives and property, provide functional education, qualitative and affordable health care, provide jobs and reduce poverty.”
He expressed optimism that “with the coming on board of the new commissioners, the state will witness tremendous development in the areas of provision of critical infrastructures and quality services needed for the improvement of overall living standards of the people.”
The governor admonished the commissioners “to see their new offices as a call to duty and in the service of the public,” adding: “I will be quick to advise you to always reflect on the oath of office and allegiance which you have willingly deposed to, that you must at all times be ready to compromise your personal comforts on the altar of public interest. Your allegiance must strictly be to the Government and good people of Kaduna State that have found you worthy of this appointment.
“There should be no segregation, favouritism, nepotism or tribalism in all official functions. Kaduna State belongs to all of us and all citizens must be treated on equal terms, every citizen must be given equal opportunity to realise his or her full potentials either politically, economically or socially.”
The governor made it clear that the 24 commissioners were chosen based on merit and charged them to support his administration’s goal of sustaining peace in the state,
