British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Laure Beaufils
The British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Laure Beaufils, has revealed that the Ogun State government attracted 75 percent of the Foreign Direct Investments (FDI), into Nigeria to the state.
The British envoy stated this when she led a delegation from the Department for International Development (DFID), on a courtesy visit to the governor in his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office yesterday.
The envoy expressed delight at the development and asked how the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration has been able to attract that much FDI to the gateway state.
Beaufils expressed the intention of the British government to engage the state and assist it in the agricultural and agro-allied sector.
Responding, the governor thanked the DFID for offering to assist Ogun State in the area of agriculture and capacity development.
Amosun stressed the need for the DFID to assist Ogun State in several other areas, adding that his administration would always interface with development partners and agencies that have the wherewithal to support the state.
Commended the agency for its contributions so far to the development of Nigeria, the governor urged it to further assist Nigeria in its bid to diversify its economy.
