Three decommissioned military aircraft and two air force helicopters were burnt along with most buildings in the 79 Composite Group (of the Nigerian Air Force) during the attack which also extended to army barracks and checkpoints.

Two Air Force personnel were wounded while 24 terrorists died during the exchange of fire, according to Director of Defence Information, Brigadier-General Chris Olukolade.

Those at the emergency security meeting presided over by President Jonathan were the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.); Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Admiral Ola Ibrahim; Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh.

There was no official statement at the end of the meeting held in the office of the President at the State House and concluded at about 3:40 p.m. None of those who attended the meeting agreed to speak with newsmen on the outcome.
