The Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has said the ongoing upgrade of facilities at the Asaba International Airport will be among the best in the country.

The Governor dropped the hint when he paid an unscheduled inspection to the airport and for the governor “Getting it right” is very important.

Addressing newsmen after the inspection Governor Okowa says, the civil work on the Instrument Landing System has been completed, while installation was ongoing.

Disclosing that funds for the projects are available, the governor promised that the project will be delivered in good time without rush in order for Delta citizens to have and operate the best airport in the country based on standard.

Meanwhile, the contractor handling the project, Uche Okpuno, informed the governor that the first segment of the runway will be completed within 10 days.

The Asaba airport was downgraded in 2015 by the NCAA who faulted the runway, barring big aircraft from landing at the airport.

However, the Okowa administration has been trying its best to meet up with the NCAA standard for full operation. (Channels TV)
