The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi East has alleged that the Kogi State Government denied the party access to the Steven Achema Handball Stadium, Idah, for its planned official flag-off ceremony, despite payment of the required facility usage fee.
The party disclosed this in a statement issued by Comrade Mohammed KB, spokesman for its Home Coming/Official Flag-Off Committee.
According to the statement, the party had fulfilled the financial requirements for the use of the facility, with receipts available as evidence of payment.
The ADC described the alleged denial of access as unfortunate, expressing hope that the circumstances surrounding the government’s decision would be clarified.
Despite the development, the party said it remained determined to proceed with its official flag-off ceremony at an alternative venue.
It added that details of the new venue would be communicated to members, supporters and the general public in due course.
The party also urged Its members and supporters to remain calm, peaceful and focused, stressing the need to exercise their democratic rights within the provisions of the law.
The ADC Kogi East reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful political participation and the sustenance of the democratic process, despite the alleged setback.
The party’s position comes amid preparations for political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections. (LEADERSHIP)
