File: FRSC officials on duty
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said that it will ensure seamless traffic flow during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
Mr Francis Ajatta, the Sector Commander, R6.1 Rivers Command, made the statement in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
Ajatta, who also unveiled the agency’s traffic management and emergency response plan for the rally, said that the FRSC would work with sister agencies during the campaign.
He said that plans were already in place to ensure that vehicular breakdown or other emergencies did not take route operators unawares.
“We have mapped out strategic measures to strengthen collaboration with other sister agencies involved in the exercise.
“Our target is to ensure free flow of traffic along roads leading to the stadium, around the venue, and on all exit routes,” he said.
The FRSC official said that the corps would deploy all available resources, including its heavy-duty tow truck to clear any obstruction without delay.
“In the event of any vehicular breakdown, such vehicles will be promptly evacuated to prevent traffic congestion, and ensure continuous flow,” he said.
Ajatta also said that ambulances will be strategically positioned close to the venue to provide prompt emergency medical response.
“We are aware that events of this magnitude attract a large presence of people, so adequate emergency preparedness is essential,” he said. (NAN)
