Tanzania have unveiled a strong squad for their upcoming double-header against Nigeria in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with two new players earning invitations and three others returning to the team, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Taifa Stars are preparing for a crucial encounter against the Super Eagles as both countries continue their quest for a place at the continental tournament.
Newly invited players include Abdallah Hassani of Al-Ain Reserves in the United Arab Emirates and Evastus Lukanima of Kagera Sugar in Tanzania.
Three players have also returned to the squad, with Dickson Job of Young Africans making a comeback after featuring at the last AFCON.
Ben Starkie of Truro City, who last featured in June 2024, and Clement Mzize of Young Africans, whose last appearance was in September 2025, have also been recalled.
The two teams are expected to engage in a fiercely contested encounter, with Tanzania hoping to secure a positive result against the Nigerian side.
Nigeria will host the first leg at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, while the return leg will take place in Tanzania four days later.
The double-header is expected to be crucial in determining the teams’ qualification prospects for the 2027 AFCON. (The Sun)
