Gov Makinde
The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointments of four prominent market leaders to designated trade leadership positions in the state.
A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, on Friday, said “The governor approved the appointment of Y.K. Abass as Babalọjà General of Oyo State; S.T. Jimoh as Aare Oloja of Oyo State; J.T. Raimi as Asiwaju Oloja of Oyo State; and Princess Folashade Azeezat Nurudeen as Iyalọjà of Oyo State.”
Oyelade stated that a document emanating from the office of the Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment Prof. Saliu Adedibu, said, “The appointments recognised the contributions of the four individuals to trade and commerce, particularly their roles in coordinating trading committees across the 33 local government areas of the state.
“Their recognition is aimed at promoting unity, cooperation and harmony among trade associations, while strengthening the commercial sector and contributing to the state’s economic growth.”
He added that the appointments are expected to strengthen coordination, cooperation and unity among market associations across Oyo State.
The commissioner described the appointees as experienced merchants with international reputations and considerable influence within the state’s trading community.
He expressed confidence that their leadership and commitment to the development of commerce would serve as a positive example to other stakeholders in the sector.
Oyelade urged traders across the state to cooperate with the newly appointed market leaders to promote the growth of commerce and the overall development of the state’s economy.
He added that the Makinde-led administration remained committed to ensuring effective coordination and management across all sectors, while supporting initiatives capable of driving development and improving the state’s economic fortunes. (The PUNCH)
