Alexander Zverev secured the ATP Year-End No. 1 presented by PIF honor for the first time on Monday, capping the best season of his career.
The 29-year-old German, who had previously finished inside the year-end Top 10 eight times and the Top 5 on five occasions, will end 2026 at the top of the PIF ATP Rankings.
“It’s been a fantastic season for me winning in Paris and New York and knowing that I will finish the year on top of the rankings is just a dream come true,” Zverev told ATP.
Zverev won his first Grand Slam titles in 2026, triumphing at Roland Garros and the US Open to establish himself as the world’s top-ranked player at the end of the season.
He became the first German to earn the ATP Year-End No. 1 honor and, at 29 years and 217 days on Nov. 23, will be the oldest player to achieve the feat for the first time.
Zverev will be three days older than Andre Agassi was when he finished 1999 as world No. 1 and 20 days older than Andy Murray was in 2016.
He is the fourth active player to finish a season as ATP No. 1, joining record eight-time recipient Novak Djokovic, two-time recipient Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. (AA)
