Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Zamfara State, Hajiya Hadiza Liman, has left the APC for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) with over 5,000 supporters across the state.
Liman, a prominent woman politician, formally joined the NDC on Friday at Galadima Ward of Gusau Local Government Area.
The politician and her supporters across the 14 local government areas said Governor Dauda Lawal has failed to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state.
“Initially I was a member of PDP, but I joined APC as a result of Governor Dauda Lawal’s defection to APC. Now that Lawal has failed to better the lives of people, I defect to NDC.
“I defect to NDC with over 5,000 of my supporters across the 14 local government areas in the state,” she disclosed.
Liman further revealed more reasons she left the ruling APC for the NDC, saying Governor Dauda Lawal has no respect for the Ulamas council office, citing the relocation of the office and allocating the same to the first lady’s office within the Government House in the state.
“I come from an Islamic ancestry, Shambo DanAshafa of blessed memory. I so much respect my religion and my family ancestors.
“I call on Ulamas in the state to stop supporting Governor Dauda Lawal and join NDC with Kabiru Garba Marafa as governorship candidate for a better Zamfara,” she called.
In his remarks, the NDC Galadima Ward of Gusau Chairman, Hon Surajo Garba PA, appreciated the decision of Liman to join the NDC.
“We welcome her to NDC with over 5,000 of her supporters. This is a big plus to our party, an indication that victory is with NDC from top to bottom, God willing,” he prayed. (Nigerian Tribune)
