A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, Falana Oyewole, has declined his appointment as Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, citing concerns over the alleged marginalization of the Erinje community in the distribution of political offices.

Oyewole conveyed his decision in a letter dated September 22, 2026, addressed to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government.

In the letter, he expressed gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for finding him worthy of the role, but stated that he could not accept the position following extensive consultations with his family and political leaders in Ode-Erinje.

The APC stalwart noted that his decision was informed by the perceived exclusion of Erinje from strategic positions under the current administration.

He said residents of Erinje feel “deeply neglected” because the community has not been considered for any strategic political appointments since the inception of the administration.

Oyewole noted that while the offer was appreciated, many in the community viewed the position as inadequate considering Erinje’s strong backing for Governor Aiyedatiwa and the ruling party.

“This appointment, while appreciated, is seen by many in our community as a slap on our face, given our massive support and loyalty to your government and to the APC in Okitipupa Local Government and Ondo State,” he stated.

He appealed to the governor to revisit the distribution of political offices in Erinje and consider appointing an indigene of the community to a higher, more strategic cabinet position. (Daily Trust)
