Olu of Mapara, Oba Abdullateef Amodemaja
The Olu of Mapara Town in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Abdullateef Amodemaja, has clarified the process leading to the appointment of Chief Mrs Ayoka Agboke as the Iyalode General of Ifo Local Government.
Oba Amodemaja, in a statement, said the appointment was approved at a statutory meeting of the Ifo Local Government Council of Obas held on August 6, 2026, at the Ifo Local Government Secretariat.

In response Oba Amodemaja said that 16 traditional rulers attended the meeting and participated in deliberations on the appointment before it was approved.
He said the decision followed discussions about Chief Agboke’s longstanding relationship with traditional institutions and her experience within the traditional women’s leadership structure in Ifo.
The monarch said the process was therefore a collective decision of the council rather than an appointment made by an individual traditional ruler or government official.
He also noted that Chief Agboke had, over the years, occupied a prominent position among Ifo traditional women leaders, adding that several traditional rulers confirmed that Iyalodes from their respective communities had held meetings at her residence.
Oba Amodemaja said the council’s position was also supported by the Olu of Ishaga Abosule, Oba Biliaminu Atanda Musadiru, who was present at the August 6 meeting and participated in the deliberations.
He further explained that the Council of Obas operates within the traditional leadership structure of Ifo Local Government and works to promote cooperation among traditional institutions and community leaders.
The Olu of Mapara called for an amicable resolution of any concerns surrounding the appointment, urging stakeholders to address disagreements through the appropriate traditional and institutional channels.
He said the council remained committed to maintaining unity among traditional rulers and ensuring that decisions affecting traditional institutions were handled through established processes.
Oba Amodemaja reaffirmed the council’s position that Chief Agboke’s appointment followed the agreed procedure and reflected the decision reached by the traditional rulers who participated in the meeting.
He appealed to members of the public to allow the relevant traditional institutions to resolve any outstanding issues surrounding the appointment peacefully and in the interest of the people of Ifo Local Government. (The Nation)
