The United States says it has gone 15 consecutive months without allowing illegal migrants to be released into the country and has deported more than three million foreigners since President Donald Trump returned to office.

The administration made the claims in a fact sheet published on the White House website on Wednesday, outlining measures it said had been taken to restore the country’s immigration system.

“President Trump has delivered on his promise to fix the immigration system, prioritise American citizens, and protect U.S. citizenship,” the White House said.

It said that in his first week back in office, Trump signed an executive order declaring a crisis at the southern border and taking immediate action to end what it described as the Biden administration’s “record-shattering illegal immigration” into the U.S.

“For 15 straight months, no illegal aliens have been released into the country,” the administration said.

“The Trump administration has deported over three million illegal aliens, including thousands convicted for violent crimes,” it added.

The administration further said it had launched a “denaturalisation surge” targeting people who allegedly fraudulently obtained U.S. citizenship, adding that claims had been filed against 88 people who received citizenship but were allegedly ineligible.

It said it had terminated taxpayer-funded benefits for more than 1.4million undocumented migrants who were improperly receiving public assistance and barred them from more than a dozen taxpayer-funded healthcare programmes.

On visa restrictions, the White House said the administration had “strengthened visa programs and their screenings and paused visa processing for 75 high-risk countries to protect the homeland and deter overstays.”

It also said the administration had moved to remove tens of thousands of undocumented migrants from voter rolls in multiple states and was working to ensure they could not vote in US elections, which it described as a right reserved for Americans.

The administration said it had also reformed the citizenship test to better assess applicants’ understanding of American history, government and values and ensure they met all eligibility requirements.

It further referenced two executive orders signed on August 6, 2026, aimed at ending birth tourism and clarifying categories of children not entitled to birthright citizenship following the Supreme Court’s ruling in Trump v. Barbara. (The Guardian)
