Nigerian-Born US Soldier, Uzumaka
A Nigerian woman serving in the US Army has made a desperate appeal to President Donald Trump for help in bringing her critically ill 10-year-old daughter from Nigeria to the United States.
The woman, who identified herself as Uzumaka, broke down in tears in a video shared online, appealing for a humanitarian exception to the current visa restrictions.
She said her daughter needs medical attention and that she fears she may not be able to access the level of care required in Nigeria.
“I am only simply asking that there should be an exception for me. My daughter is critically ill. I have all the paperwork to prove it, medical reports,” she said.
Uzumaka revealed that she has been separated from her daughter for 10 years while working through the immigration process. According to her, the child has met the necessary immigration requirements but is still unable to join her in the US due to current visa restrictions.
The Army member said she has sought assistance through her military commanders and contacted US Senator Amy Klobuchar, but was informed that the visa process was proceeding normally.
With the situation becoming increasingly urgent, she appealed directly to Trump.
“Please, Mr President, help me reunite with my daughter,” she pleaded.
She also asked social media users to share her story and help draw attention to her situation, saying she had contacted major news organisations but had not received a response.
“This is just a mother fighting for her daughter to live and survive,” she added. (LEADERSHIP)
