American streamer Darren Watkins Jr., popularly known as IShowSpeed, met Seyi, President Bola Tinubu’s son, during the 2026 FIFA World Cup final in New York on Sunday.
Footage from IShowSpeed’s livestream showed Seyi Tinubu wearing a Spain jersey and seated in the VIP section with his children and family.
Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in extra time to clinch the World Cup.
A member of Seyi Tinubu’s team walked up to IShowSpeed during the stream to alert him that the president’s son was present.
The 21-year-old then approached the family, took photos with the children and greeted Seyi Tinubu.
“It is nice meeting you,” Seyi Tinubu told him after they shook hands.
IShowSpeed replied with a laugh, “Tell your dad to get me a passport!” before going back to his broadcast.
Recall that the streamer performed at the closing ceremony, delivering his new single “World Cup (Champions)” with drummers and dancers.
The encounter comes months after IShowSpeed’s Speed Does Africa tour stop in Nigeria.
In Lagos, he streamed visits to Lagos Island, Freedom Park and Nike Art Gallery, met Davido and Zlatan Ibile, and marked his 21st birthday in the country. (The Nation)
