Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a 28-year-old pregnant woman, identified as Falmata Adamu, for allegedly transporting items suspected to be destined for Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Borno State.
According to security sources quoted by counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, the suspect was apprehended on July 13 during a routine security operation along the Mandaragirau–Biu road, where troops were conducting checkpoint inspections.
The sources said the woman attracted the attention of security personnel during a search, leading to the discovery of several items allegedly concealed inside her civilian clothing.
Among the recovered materials were 17 torchlights and 19 Tiger batteries, which investigators suspect were being transported to a terrorist enclave to support insurgent operations.
“According to the sources, the woman was intercepted after troops discovered items concealed in her civilian clothing during a search,” Zagazola Makama reported.
“The recovered items included 17 torchlights and 19 Tiger batteries, which are suspected to have been destined for a terrorist enclave.”
Security sources said the suspect has been taken into custody, while investigators are working to determine the intended recipients of the items and establish whether she is linked to a wider terrorist logistics network operating in the North-East.
The arrest forms part of Operation Hadin Kai’s ongoing campaign to disrupt supply routes and dismantle logistics networks sustaining Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters across the region.
Despite recent operational gains, security sources noted that troops remain on high alert, stressing that the insurgency continues to pose unpredictable threats across the North-East, requiring sustained surveillance and intensified counter-terrorism operations. (The Sun)
